Crafting Kivu’s visual language
Developed by a London-based dermatologist, Dr. Benedetta Brazzini, Kivu is a skincare brand that offers tailored solutions for every skin concern. As a fractional designer, I worked on a project basis shaping its brand identity, packaging, products, and digital experience. Together, we were redefining beauty standards and empowering individuals to embrace their natural glow with confidence.
Empowering beauty through innovation
Kivu is a skincare range designed by a London dermatologist, offering flexible solutions for young, mature, sensitive, and damaged skin. Harnessing the potent properties of Helix Aspersa secretion, along with innovative peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and witch hazel, these products promise effective results.
Revolutionizing skincare with science and nature
Kivu Skincare’s mission was clear: deliver enduring results for a variety of skin concerns. Guided by Dr. Benedetta Brazzini’s passion for effective yet simple skincare, we embarked on a journey to revolutionize the industry. My role began with developing a visual identity that conveyed our commitment to efficacy and natural ingredients.
Our approach was grounded in extensive research into skincare science, focusing on the synergy of Helix Aspersa secretion and advanced skincare components. This knowledge shaped our creative direction, aiming for a visual identity that balanced freshness, natural appeal, and scientific precision.
Creating a cohesive brand experience
Our creative journey included crafting a unified visual system encompassing a logotype, pattern, color palette, and design principles. These elements harmonized Kivu’s brand language across stationery, print materials, and digital platforms, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand presence.
Capturing Kivu skincare’s essence through photography
Collaboration with talented photographers like Annabel Elston was essential in capturing Kivu Skincare’s essence. Still-life photography enriched our visual narrative, aligning perfectly with the brand’s natural and effective ethos.
Packaging design
Designing packaging for Kivu Skincare’s range was a pivotal challenge. Managing production from prototype to final serigraphy testing in China, I collaborated closely with experts to ensure the packaging met our stringent standards. Special boxes were crafted using premium Fedrigoni papers and embossed printing finishes, reflecting Kivu’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
Visual storytelling and reach through E-commerce
Our journey extended to social media, where we leveraged visual storytelling to engage a global audience. Collaboratively, we launched campaigns highlighting Kivu Skincare’s innovation and dedication to natural beauty, fostering a vibrant community of skincare enthusiasts.
Taking the initiative, I spearheaded the creation of an e-commerce platform on Shopify for Kivu Skincare. This initiative enabled Kivu to showcase and sell its products worldwide, offering customers a seamless and intuitive shopping experience.
The Kivu Skincare project exemplified my ability to integrate research, branding, packaging design, and material selection into a cohesive visual identity. It was a journey that celebrated the synergy of nature and science, delivering a brand that resonated with the efficacy and allure of skincare innovation, both online and offline.
